I will be 23 next month, and I will have lived in Tennessee for a year. This has me doing so much thinking. This year, it flew by. It literally feels like I just turned 22, like I just hopped a plane with some clothes and my kid and that’s it and moved half way across the country, to a place I’ve never even been to before. I still feel like the new girl in this town, I have a few friends, but nothing feels right here. And I can’t help but feel; despite the job and the apartment I wanted so badly in Colorado, that I have accomplished nothing. How proud of myself should I be, for being this measly telemarketer in the backwoods of east Tennessee? How proud should I be of anything? Where did this year go? It slipped through my fingers before I had a chance to grasp at it and make it mine. I’ve made all the same mistakes; I lost someone I truly loved. I wonder when it will hit me, what to do with my life. It’s in my own hands, I know that. I am not naïve. I just wonder when I’ll make a difference. I long to make a difference! I have so much more I want to say and express but I am exhausted, and worn out, I’ll end things with this song. It holds so much meaning to me right now.
